ウイルス学分野のご紹介

ウイルスはヒトを初めとした宿主に様々な疾病をもたらします。ウイルスは健常人・免疫不全宿主に重篤な感染症を引き起こすのみならず、肝癌・子宮頚癌・白血病・悪性リンパ腫などの「がん」の原因にもなります。ヘルペスウイルス、インフルエンザウイルス、肝炎ウイルス、HIVなどのウイルスが引き起こす疾患を「制する」ことは、現代社会において極めて重要なチャレンジです。ウイルスを知り、ウイルス疾患を制することができるようなったその先には、ウイルスを遺伝子導入ベクターや腫瘍溶解ウイルスとして「使う」道があります。私たちの研究室では、Epstein-Barrウイルスや単純ヘルペスウイルスなどのヒトヘルペスウイルスを中心に、ウイルス病原性の分子基盤の解明、ウイルス疾患の診断・制御・治療法の開発、ウイルスを用いた癌治療など先駆的な研究を行っています。
